The influence of Zen Buddhism on Japanese garden design is often conjectural at best but it is difficult not to be set at ease by the serenity and uniformity of a Japanese Zen garden. Zen gardens are in their own right a philosophy that requires deep understanding; however a carefully planned Zen garden will bring you many moments of quiet contemplation, especially if you have rather confined spaces for a garden.
